What are ways to avoid appetizer's at parties?
The number one way I avoid the temptation of appetizer's is to chew gum. It makes me feel like I am somehow still "eating" something and I am less likely to get rid of it to try the spread of food. This usually works and then I don't feel guilty later that I ate the food. Typically appetizer's are never healthy so I'd rather not waste my time. I come to the party after I have already eaten. Then I am full; when I am very hungry this is usually when I "fall off the wagon" and lose control. If I do happen to still be hungry I hope that there is a veggie tray so I can at least munch on them.
Another way I steer clear of the food table is to not stand anywhere near it! Doesn't it end up that there's a group of people that hover by the table and others that tend to mingle or go outside on the patio? "Out of sight; out of mind." The more it sits in front of me the more I lose my will power. Talking, playing games, or being outside help take my mind off wanting all the delectable treats. Besides, I know later I'm just going to be pissed that I succumbed to temptation! Any other tricks that help you during the party scene?
