Myofascial Trigger Points - Hands-On Therapy

by Dr. P. Carl Rafey 13. June 2011 11:45

Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) has been increasing dramatically in recent years. Clinically speaking, patients with this condition have a very high recurrence rate.  A hands-on compression technique called ischemic compression, which is similar to acupressure, has been shown to be very effective as it commonly results inan immediate reduction in pain.

A recent study showed that patients who received the ischemic compression as part of their treatment had DOUBLE the reduction of pain as those that did not incorporate this treatment.   This study showed that the treatment is comfortable and in some cases can be competed in 30 seconds per area.
